As you rightly say if it wasn't for Brendan this window would've been another disaster, the board deserve no credit and once again we're in negative equity for the deals done. I'm glad we got the three deals done on the final day and I think Luke McCowan could be a superb signing for us as he'll be playing with better players now. I agree with your summary, with the ending pulling a few things out of the fire.
At the end of the day, probably only Trusty, McCowan and Valle can be said to be additions over last season's team/squad and it remains to be seen how integral they become.
We did ship out a lot of players, so hopefully future windows can be more about quality additions for the first team.
Perhaps, we may even be a net spender, although I may have strayed into delusional territory there.
Excellent piece Alan. I too find it strange that Greg hasn't signed a new deal in last couple of seasons! Hopefully soon. I am devastated at losing Matt as I had hoped to keep him especially for UCL but I get too attached unfortunately. Tomoki Iwata is disappointing too but for him , he's too good to warm a bench and it must be frustrating for him. I totally agree with you about any injuries leaving us vulnerable. I am however excited to see what lies ahead for this squad. Hail Hail Alan 🍀

I'm not too hung up on "net spend". Trading smartly to allow more headroom for wages is the way to grow quality.
